How To Market Your Blog Effectively Without Wasting Your Time

When I first started in the internet marketing industry, my daily activities were all over the place. I was disorganized and spending 12-14 hours per day in front of my computer. I was not getting great results and the main reason was that I was not engaging in time-leveraged, effective activities.

In addition, I was unfocused and marketing multiple products. The concept was multiple streams of income, and in theory it was solid… However, in practice it is typically short-lived, and I felt like I was starting over with a different offer and strategy pretty much every other week.

If you’re anything like me, you were attracted to online marketing because of the leverage it can provide. We’ve all been sold on the dream of working a few hours per day and having money streaming in 24/7…

I had nearly reached the point where I no longer believed that it was possible to make a sustainable income online without being glued to my computer 24/7, and that’s not the lifestyle I wanted.

Then, in October 2012, everything changed…

In this post, I am going to outline my daily activities that I now follow. I spend no more than 2-3 hours per day doing these activities and this has, at the time of this writing, produced more than $100,000, without picking up the phone to call any leads, or personally doing any selling. This process has allowed me to create a full time income within 6 months of starting, and create that lifestyle that most only dream about.

NOTE: The product and opportunity that I now promote is a unique and highly profitable complete ‘turn-key’ online business system that allows you to earn up to $3,000 commissions on a single sale per customer, from multiple high-value, high-demand products. I will add a bit more info on that at the end of this post.

My 2 Hour Per Day (Super Effective) Blog Marketing Formula

1. Create A Unique Quality Blog Post (20-45 Mins)

There are a number of strategies for coming up with good content for your blog posts. The key is getting it down to a routine and really understanding what kind of content will get traffic, get read and convert to leads. One of the most effective strategies is to identify your target audience and create content they would be interested in. Write with a purpose in mind, provide real value with a call to action to get more info or become your customer. Another strategy is to simply write posts about already viral topics.

2. Syndicate Your Blog Post (10-30 Mins)
This is a process that many simply don’t know about or skip, then wonder why it’s taking so long to get any traffic. The process of syndicating your content will get you immediate visitors and valuable backlinks, greatly reducing the time to get your content indexed and ranked in the search engines. Many new bloggers are intimidated by this process because they don’t yet understand how simple, fast and easy it can be. We’ve created a very simple 10-Minute syndication process that our team uses that we make available to all our members. I encourage you to get creative here. There are thousands of places you could be posting you content to get it out there and get instant visitors to your site. The syndication process need not take more than about 10-30 minutes in total. If you are just setting up and starting to build your following on some of the social networks like Facebook, cut yourself some slack. It’s going to take you a little time to build up your following, but there’s no time like the present to get started on that.

3. Share Additional Stories, Successes, Cool Related Stuff (20-30 Mins)
It’s not just about blogging… You need to adopt an ‘Always-Be-Marketing’ mindset. When you learn about other’s great success stories or other related content… Share them! You can syndicate them just like you do with your blog posts. For every blog post I do, I probably share 2-4 other cool bits of content that I did not even have to create. This could be something your affiliate or MLM company has sent out, an impactful story another affiliate or team member shared, or anything you think your audience would be interested in. The more viral the content, the better. One thing to always keep in mind is that ‘Facts tell, but stories sell’.

One of my favorite specific strategies is to find success story videos done by other affiliates or shot at company events and embed them into a blog post. I then write about the story, the person, etc… then syndicate it using our 10-minute process. I think many marketers think it has to be only about them, when in fact it’s better if it’s not. When you are first starting out, you may not have personally seen any success yet, but you can share the stories of others and do it for your benefit. Don’t ignore this activity!

4. Cultivate The Relationship With Your List (10-20 Mins)
If you’re not building your own list, you’re making a common and HUGE mistake, that will ultimately put you out of the game. Your list is your most important and valuable asset, and if you’re not actively building a relationship with the people on your list, you are literally missing out on some of your best traffic and prospects. You should not be relying only on an autoresponder message series either… The real power comes from sending to your list daily (or at lest 3-5 times per week). Share stories, get personal and let your list know who you are, what you’re doing… and how you can help them. I spend no more than 20 minutes per day emailing my list, and the bigger my list gets, the more time-leveraged that task becomes. Right now I can send 1 email and get more than 500 people to actually view whatever I send them. I started with no list just a year ago.

5. Video Marketing (60 Mins Per Week)
Don’t let the fact that this task is listed last lead you to thinking it is less important. In fact, this is the one strategy that is responsible for more than half my current traffic, leads and sales. Video is so powerful and is an opportunity to provide value and build a relationship at the same time. There are so many ways to utilize video in your marketing that you will never run out of something to create a video about.

Here are some video ideas…

  • Do a personal introduction
  • Create a “How To” videos
  • Share your personal successes (first leads, first sale)
  • Share why you’re doing affiliate marketing, network marketing, etc.
  • Answer frequently asked questions

When you do start to see your own successes, share those successes to get even more success. The more success you get and share, the easier everything becomes.

The Key: Provide value. Don’t just get on a video and tell people to buy your stuff. You need to give them a reason to like and trust you. Be genuine, honest …and give!

Be A Leader!

People want to take advice from a leader. People will purchase products from a leader and join a leader in business. You cannot pretend to be a leader, people will see right though you… You must BE a leader! It is not hard to become a leader, you just need to do what leaders do. Become a problem solver in your business and your life. Don’t wait around for people to hand you all the answers, go find them, then share them with others. Don’t blame others for your circumstances… Understand that everything you have right now is a result of the choices you have made up to this point. The good news is that your future does not equal your past. You can duplicate my EXACT results and even surpass them, but you have to step up and be a leader in your life.   • Hi John I really enjoyed you blog and more to the point understood it. I have been in EN for over one year now. One of the main problems I had was the ability to keep up with my monthly subscription it was like a yoyo. However a fortnight ago I got a job after being on welfare for the last 3 years. It’s been at least a couple of months since my subscriptions lapsed. My goal is to get back into EN by the end of January. I was purchasing the Elite Package which is about $260 AUD a month. Do you think I should get a less expensive package until I can master the basic skills. I am not very skilled with technology and have difficulty understanding what I’m trying to achieve. I love the concept of EN and want to continue but feel lost and out of touch, also need to adjust my time schedule now that I am working. What would you advise?
